The Opportunity
The primary focus of this role is to support the safety of children and other pedestrians using school crossings throughout the municipality. The position coordinates, monitors and supervises the performance of School Crossing Supervisors and assists with the administration and issue of permits under Council's General Purposes Local Law.
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will ensure school crossing operations are delivered efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation, guidelines and Council policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer an efficient and effective school crossing service for Council and residents of Maribyrnong.
- Assist the Team Leader in recruitment, training, monitoring and supervising of school crossing supervisors.
- Coordinate and monitor school crossing service provision across the Maribyrnong area, to ensure that all school crossing functions are carried out in accordance with legislation in an appropriate and timely manner.
- Maintain an accurate School Crossing Plan, ensuring that all school crossings are supervised at the correct times by properly trained and equipped staff.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- Experience/knowledge of School Crossing supervision and or coordination.
- Demonstrated experience and ability in coordinating the provision of local service delivery arrangements, including rostering and timesheet coordination of staff.
- Fluency in a common community language other than English is considered an advantage.
- Physically fit to undertake duties as outlined in this position description. The position requires the incumbent to complete a pre-employment medical check.
- Valid Working with Children Check
- No relevant criminal record found in a police check.
