We're looking for a proactive Team Leader Horticulture to lead our Horticulture team to deliver high-quality maintenance and enhance the presentation of Council's formal gardens, civic landscapes, and high-profile public spaces to a safe, functional and visually appealing standard.

About the Role
As the Team Leader - Horticulture, you will be responsible for supervising and leading a team to deliver horticultural maintenance services across Council-managed open spaces. This includes garden bed maintenance, planting, pruning, weed control, irrigation, and general horticultural maintenance activities.
You will plan and allocate daily tasks, monitor work quality, and ensure all activities are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise and coordinate a team of parks and horticulture staff to deliver high-quality maintenance of formal gardens and civic landscapes.
- Lead and support the team to drive productivity, safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Allocate daily work tasks, set priorities and monitor performance to ensure agreed standards, timelines and safety requirements are met.
- Oversee and participate in the maintenance and presentation of formal gardens, including, mowing, edging, planting, pruning, mulching, weed control, litter removal and seasonal displays.
- Plan and implement seasonal programs, garden changeovers and preparation for events and civic functions.
- Monitor plant health and garden condition, identifying issues and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
- Oversee the operation and basic maintenance of irrigation systems and coordinate fault reporting and repairs.
- Ensure plant, equipment and tools are operated, maintained and stored safely and in a serviceable condition.
- Lead by example in workplace health and safety compliance, hazard identification, risk management and incident reporting.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- A Diploma in Horticulture or similar formal qualifications.
- Experience leading, supervising or coordinating staff in an operational parks or horticulture environment.
- Experience in the maintenance and presentation of formal gardens, civic landscapes or high-quality public open spaces.
- Sound experience in planning and delivering seasonal programs, garden changeovers and high-presentation landscape works.
- Experience in the safe operation and supervision of horticultural plant and equipment.
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and the ability to lead safe work practices.
- Current Agricultural Chemicals Users Permit (ACUP)
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
- Medium Rigid Driver's License.
- No relevant criminal record found in a Police Check.
- Valid Working with Children Check
